Possession by J R Ward (#5 The Fallen Angels Series)

Possession (Fallen Angels, #5)

Things just keep getting better in this series…wait, is it just me or are six books not enough to wrap up this series?

Oh the blurb: When Cait Douglass resolves to get over her broken heart and lose her inhibitions, she’s unprepared for the two sensual men who cross her path. Torn between them, she doesn’t know which to choose—or what kind of dire consequences could follow. There’s Duke ( the one who gets under her skin, and doesn’t say much) and then there’s G.B (Mr. Handsome with the voice of an Angel)

Jim Heron, fallen angel and reluctant savior, is ahead in the war, but he puts everything at risk when he seeks to make a deal with the devil—literally. As yet another soul is unwittingly caught in the battle between him and the demon Devina, his fixation on an innocent trapped in Hell threatens to sidetrack him from his sacred duty…. Can good still prevail if true love makes a savior weak? And will a woman’s future be the key, or the curse, for all of humanity? Only time, and hearts, will tell.

There was a steady pace to this and you get to know how thick things are because the war is almost over and with the Angels ahead, the need to clinch the final win and sink Devina has everyone on edge…and this is where Jim messes up (or so everyone thinks) and he trades one win for Sissy.

Anyone remember her? Sissy Barten, the virgin who was taken by Devina to guard her mirror.

Well, Jim gets what he asks for and that does not go down well in Heaven, and Nigel, the Archangel after his run in with Jim, decides to get out of the game, literally and:

what

The pressure on winning was riding high on this and Devina for once was a little off her game, and my Adrian made me smile with this reaction:

You were channeling the role of cray-cray-never-was-girlfriend and I was negotiating with my stomach to make sure all that toast from breakfast stayed put.

My apologies to those who are stickler for rules, I had to skip ahead to Possession, because I can’t seem to get a copy of Rapture (and no, don’t tell me to get an ebook, I want to save the collection to my library, so I can always read about angels and Devina, who knew she’d be such a badass! One against a whole team of angels and she’s a boss!).

On love; the chemistry between Duke and Cait was spontaneous, and it was great how Adrian helped Sissy make some sense of what happened to her, plus all the clothes, well, he’s got charm and so I’ll sign out with some Adrian (when Jim’s about to say that his day was awful and he was only looking forward to Sissy):

Adrian finished things for him. “Me of course. And I’m really touched- you’re so awesome like that. You bring me chocolates? Flowers?”

Envy (The Fallen Angels Series) by J. R. Ward

Well, hello Veck! It’s good to see you again…

Envy (Fallen Angels, #3)

A brief summary: As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas “Veck” DelVecchio, Jr., grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father- while fighting his inner demons. Assigned to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in him is both professional and arousingly personal. And Veck and Sophia have another link: Jim Heron, a mysterious stranger with too many answers… to questions that are deadly. When Veck and Sophia are drawn into the ultimate battle between good and evil, their fallen angel savior is the only thing that stands between them and eternal damnation.

I have been crushing on J.R.Ward‘s writing since I started reading the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. She knows her good versus evil and seamlessly crosses the thin line between them it makes you respect and empathize with the characters.

Her heroines are strong and her heroes are not afraid to shed a tear or two…(which I kind of like, forget the full on ugly face crying in telenovelas, I am talking about the whisky drinking kind of crying 🙂 )

With Envy, she does not relent in working her way into both the villains and heroes heads, it is a race against time and Jim is out to save a soul from the wickedness of Hell as unleashed by Devina and he goes a step further to strike a deal with the Demon, and this exposes another side of the Archangel, Nigel. A sound and human side; he is remorseful and afraid of how he’ll deal with defeat, and for once I was treated to how helpless Nigel feels in the fight for souls, because whoever holds all cards is the Creator.

I met Veck in Lover Unleashed, but here, he’s got his heart on his sleeve and it made me swoon with envy, I mean he admits to Sophia Reilly, “Scratch what I said before, I think I am falling in love with you. Right here. Right now.”

However, I never knew that 7 words could make me feel like this:

Instead of being a spoilsport I’ll tell you, get the book and when you get to page 227 you’ll understand my sentiments exactly.

In Crave, I was all about Jim Heron, the Savior, but I am not in any mood to fight over him with Devina (lest I end up like Sissy), but there’s this guy, he’s volatile, angry, sweet, sarcastic and quite the warrior…ladies and gentlemen Adrian!

He turns down Devina:

“You know, Adrian, you ever get bored with being a Goody-Two-Shoes, you could come over to my side.”

“Because you have cookies, right.”

Those black eyes turned to his own. “And so much more.”

“Well, I’m on a diet. Sorry- but thanks for the invite.”

Oh, and what about the time he demanded Jim to sober up and keep his head in the game?

“This is war, not a goddamn dating service!”

And better yet, when Colin assists him in battling Devina’s minions by granting him minions of his own, Ad just says

“Can I have them back if I need them again…Like if I have to lay some carpet, or move a piano?”

Mama-like

I’ll sign out on a high, because I have Possession and cannot seem to get my hands on a paperback copy of Rapture.I am a stickler for rules, but waiting and looking for a copy of Rapture is killing me, and especially with Possession calling out to me to read it…what would you advise?

Crave (The Fallen Angels Series) by J.R.Ward

Crave by J.R. Ward

Forget Covet and if you’re reading this and you’ve read The BDB Novels, you need to grab a drink or something cool and chill because every word of the Fallen Angels Series is worth reading.

The goal: Seven deadly sins, and seven souls to save.
Angels and Demons seek out and fight over the souls that need to salvation, and in this case you have Devina, a demon who does not play by the rules and Jim Heron, an ex XOP, the good guy out to save his friend Isaac Rothe who is on the most wanted list by people who could kill him, worse off, kill everyone he loves who just happens to be Grier, the lawyer who got him out of jail and whom he can’t stop thinking about.

I’m really trying not to spill the whole story here, but the fight for a soul is definitely not an easy one and the thing that J.R.Ward succeeds in- she makes you understand and empathize with the villains.

I could swoon over Isaac, but nah, he’s not my type…I am more into Jim Heron, you know, dead and all…but cute enough to be sarcastic with a demon-and to trade his life for a friend 🙂

Hot-Bad-Boy

I have started reading Envy…and I can’t wait to see how this goes. Plus, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t crushing on J.R.Ward’s writing because she retweeted my excitement:
